Celebrating 32 happy years in business this year (2020), we invite you and your guests and family to enjoy lunch or dinner at our family-owned and run restaurant, featuring modern Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine and seafood specialties prepared by Nahid and Sharareh, a mother and daughter team with nearly a century of combined culinary experience! 

 

Tucked away in a nondescript shopping plaza behind Gardiner's Furniture off Joppa Road in Towson, the Orchard Market & Cafe is a Towson landmark and favorite hangout for some of the area's top artists, musicians, academics, as well as your everyday residents and foodies. If you've never tried Persian, don't be shy: the food is not spicy, but subtly seasoned, ranging from sweet and sour to tangy and fruity.

 

If you feel like going traditional, try our delicious Kabobs, skewered grilled meat and vegetable dishes, or Khoreshes, braised meat stews, all served with basmati rice with Persian saffron.

 

Feeling adventurous? Go for our "Persian Fusion" creations, inspired by classic dishes---with a middle eastern, mediterranean, or Indian twist. Example: Paella Persian Style, based on the Spanish jambalaya fish dish, with the full range of seafood, but seasoned with Iranian saffron, advieh (their curry), sabzi (their herbs de provence), and of course basmati rice!  Another example: Toasted Almond Salmon, a generous and juicy filet of salmon from the Faroe Islands, sauteed with lemon juice and onion, topped with toasted almonds, and served with grilled vegetables and a yogurt cilantro sauce.

 

Our salads are prepared daily with fresh mixed greens and romaine, and our yogurt is homemade from a culture we began back in 1988! We make our own hummus from scratch, with Bulgarian Feta cheese as the secret ingredient! Our house dressing is made with pomegranate molasses and a balsamic vinaigrette with herbs and spices.
